Who makes Kept
Hi, I’m Loren. I make Kept: private memorial websites that family and friends fill with photos and stories, and the printed books they become. I started it after losing a dear friend.
Why I started Kept
I made a memorial page for my friend, and saw how much it meant to her friends to have one place to share what they remembered and grieve together. I hope Kept can bring you some of that comfort, too.
Who builds your page
I’m a designer and software engineer in Jersey City, and I’ve been building for the web for more than twenty years. Kept is made at my independent studio, LateralTranslucence. Every page is designed and built by hand, and when you get in touch, you’ll hear back from me.
What every Kept page has in common
- It’s private. It opens with a passphrase the family chooses, and asks search engines not to list it.
- Nobody needs an account. Friends add photos and memories from their phones.
- The family is in charge. They can remove anything at any time, from their own admin area.
- It ends in something to hold: a softcover book of every photo and story.
